PERTH 2017 – A Contemporary Change in the West An Incentive Courtesy of InterContinental Perth Central

Perth
It had been quite a while since I had made a personal or work visit to Perth and although Sane Event Group had managed events in Perth over recent years, the mining boom had negatively influenced the cost of holding events in Western Australia. That has now changed.

Thanks to InterContinental Hotels Group I attended a recent familiarisation program in February 2018.

It was an experience that confirmed, in my mind, that it is essential to remain up to date with a destination when working in the corporate conference and incentive market, which is important and consistent with the thinking of the Sane Event Group. Perth has been through – and is continuing to go through – a tourism and incentive rejuvenation, which is dramatic.

Location, location, location – a real estate mantra – is so pertinent for the newly opened InterContinental Perth City Centre located in the hub of the King Street Precinct in the Perth CBD.

InterContinental Perth City CentreThe hotel has a warmth of a personalised welcome, memorable dining experiences, a residential design and is located in a dynamic quarter of Perth in walking distance to the Perth Convention Centre, the designer shops in the precinct and the nightlife of King Street, Wolf Lane, Munster Lane and Northbridge.

nightlife of King StreetThere is an elegance of 20th century architecture with the Edwardian Baroque, His Majesty’s Theatre next door, which has been recently refurbished, and the charming laneways in nearby streets and lanes just waiting to be discovered. The theatre offers impressive incentive space to complement the program at the InterContinental Perth City Centre including an exclusive underground nightclub and the potential for operatic singers from the balcony as a value add ‘reveal’ experience. Just ask how!

The InterContinental Perth City Centre hotelThe InterContinental Perth City Centre hotel offers a contemporary approach to luxury hotel engaging with the locals, offering service to the community through barista coffee in the lane and a tapas style restaurant opening up the corner of street and lane blurring the barriers between 5-star hotel luxury and newly accessible cuisine to the Perth community.

On a personal note, and maybe not for everyone, I was almost in a state of Nirvana when ‘a little after’ midnight in Varnish on King, enjoying the music and ambience, we experienced a challenge of the senses with:

A FAMOUS VARNISH BACON FLIGHT

The ‘famil’ took us through Kings Park, the suburbs of Perth to the Indian Ocean and into the creative options for corporate incentive events, highlighting the value of Perth as an event destination.

Visiting Swanbourne overlooking the beautiful Swanbourne beach, Chef Oliver Gould’s The Shorehouse is the place to soak up the summery days and nights. The tranquility and absolute pristine clarity of the Indian Ocean water is sublime.

Thank you InterContinental Hotels Group and the management and staff of the InterContinental Perth City Centre.
